Lipporn
10 MW Power capacity
20 MWh Energy capacity

In the municipality of Lipporn in Rhineland-Palatinate, a co-location project is being developed that combines a 10 MW battery storage system with 20 MWh of capacity and a 10 MWp ground-mounted solar PV installation. Both systems share the same grid connection point without causing any limitations to the operation of the PV plant.
By using a single grid connection, the existing grid infrastructure can be utilized far more efficiently. The battery storage system absorbs surplus energy generated by the PV plant and releases it back into the grid when needed. This improves both the economic performance of the PV system and the stability of the regional power grid. The result is a flexible, integrated system that maximizes the use of renewable energy while reducing stress on the grid.

The project delivers substantial benefits to the region. The combination of solar PV and battery storage increases security of supply by making renewable energy available whenever it is needed. At the same time, the regional grid infrastructure is used more efficiently, contributing to a more stable and resilient energy system. With this project, Lipporn sets a clear example of modern energy solutions and demonstrates how co-location concepts can strengthen the energy transition and support sustainable regional development.
