Großenkneten
12 MW Power capacity
24 MWh Energy capacity

Near an existing substation, a battery storage system with 12 MW of power and 24 MWh of storage capacity is being developed in Großenkneten. Thanks to its ideal location, the project can make optimal use of the existing grid infrastructure and provide a tangible contribution to the stability of the regional power grid.
The battery storage system will play a central role in ensuring the reliable availability of renewable energy. It stores surplus electricity from wind and solar installations and releases this energy exactly when it is needed—at night, during periods of low sunlight, or in phases with little wind. This makes green electricity more usable, enhancing both security of supply and overall grid stability.

The project in Großenkneten demonstrates how strongly technological innovation and sustainable thinking are anchored in the region. By enabling more effective use of renewable energy sources, the battery storage system significantly increases regional energy independence. At the same time, reliance on fossil energy sources is further reduced. Großenkneten is positioning itself as a pioneer of a modern, resilient and climate-friendly energy future.
