Burladingen
20 MW Power capacity
40 MWh Energy capacity

A battery storage system with a power rating of 20 MW and a storage capacity of 40 MWh is being built in Burladingen, in close proximity to the newly constructed substation. The location was deliberately chosen to make efficient use of the existing grid infrastructure.
In the future, the battery storage system will store surplus renewable energy from wind and solar plants and feed it back into the grid as needed. This will increase grid stability and improve the security of supply in Burladingen and the entire Neckar-Alb region. With its capacity of 40 MWh, the storage system can supply electricity to around 30,000 households for approximately two hours.

Beyond its energy-sector function, the project sends a strong signal for the region’s future viability. As a visible flagship project, the battery storage system demonstrates the practical use of modern and sustainable energy technologies, strengthening Burladingen’s innovative image.
By taking on a pioneering role, Burladingen can also inspire other municipalities in the Neckar-Alb region and help accelerate the expansion of renewable energy.
